Rhythms of India, presented by Kalakshetra and Newcastle University Indian Performing Arts Society (NUIPA), brings together performances by students from Newcastle University. These performances will span classical and traditional music and dance to tell the story of India’s vibrant cultural legacy.

Experience the timeless beauty of ghazals in a soulful concert led by singer Tauseef Akhtar, one of the most celebrated and refined voices of the genre today. In this special performance, Tauseef will present well-known and much-loved ghazals by the King of Ghazals, Jagjit Singh, from whom he had the rare privilege of learning directly.
Join us for an evening of exceptional Indian classical music, celebrating the legacy of the legendary vocalist Bhimsen Joshi, recipient of the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour. The concert will feature Dr Vijay Rajput, a direct disciple of Pt Bhimsen Joshi, presenting a rich vocal recital in the Hindustani classical tradition.
Akash Parekar and Janan Sathiendran are two standout emerging artists in the UK’s Indian classical music scene. Together, they bring a fresh, dynamic energy to Indian classical performance.
