Ghazal Ka Safar-A Musical Journey 20th March 2010
A ‘ghazal’ may be understood as a poetic expression of both the pain of loss or separation and the beauty of love in spite of that pain.
Ghazal Ka Safar revisits the evolution of this art form and pays homage to the great poets of the Indian Subcontinent. The show features some of the popular compositions over the years sung by several eminent recording artistes such as Mehdi Hassan, Ghulam Ali, Begum Akhtar and Jagjit Singh to name a few, and recognises the important contribution of Ghazals in Bollywood films like Bazaar, Umrao Jaan and of course the Lata – Madan Mohan duo.
