Newcastle Unity Programme

January 2010

GemArts in partnership with Newcastle City Council are delivering a high quality participatory arts programme across all art forms. The programme offers groups the opportunity to engage in activities that improve the quality of life of individuals and communities, contributing positively to society as a whole and helping young people/ women's group, specifically those from Muslim communities, to develop their own cultural identity.
The programme will also explore Islamic rulings in relation to the arts and explore creative arts practise from the perspective of contemporary Muslim artists.
The programme aims to help reduce anti-social behaviour, and with the wider community, the programme also aims to develop strands focusing on Anti-Islamophobia.
