Gem Arts. Creating and profiling diverse arts.

About Us

About Us

GemArts is a dynamic arts development organisation - we profile and programme new and exciting culturally diverse arts, by creating and developing high quality concerts, events, festivals, workshops and commissions with regional, national and international artists across all art forms.

We specialise in high quality arts based projects with socially excluded groups – specifically Black Minority and Ethnic (BME), asylum seeker and refugee communities. Over the last 20 years we have built an excellent track record and accrued considerable experience and knowledge in the management and delivery of arts projects in the North East region working in partnership with the public and voluntary sector targeting a wide range of disadvantaged and marginalized communities.

We have established links with schools and community groups where BME people attend and have delivered successful participatory arts programme across all art forms.

Our work also extends to people from the wider community and engagement with culturally diverse arts as we feel that art can be used to promote a greater understanding of people and their respective cultures.

Over the course of a year we:
- programme over 35 high profile performances, exhibition, events and commissions
- work with around 330 individual artists/musicans
- engage with over 3000 participants in our high quality participatory arts programme
- attract over 40000 audience members from all communities.
